For Sale
Sigh.
If I didn’t love this damn dog so much, I’m ‘tellin you. . .
But that’s a tale for another day- Quick shameless plug:
ITEM #1:
I need to sell a PRIMO, BEAUtiful Silver King 2B. Not sure the exact age, think perhaps 5 years old (SN: 907737) , looks like it’s brand new. I’m the second owner. I picked it up this past spring, as it was the first King 2B I’ve played that I *could* play. I always wanted to be “King 2B” guy, but didn’t find one that resonated as well as I liked, or felt “too stuffy”.
This bell RINGS baby, it’s free blowing, sweet up through High F (the really high one) and slots well. I’ve used it with Frankie Valli, the Four Tops, the Temptations, and in a variety of Jazz and other commercial venues. It records with a nice even and fat upper register, and the slide- my god, the slide: it’s really a 10 of 10. There is NO plating wear, and no dings, dents, etc. This horn is beautiful.
So why am I selling it? Mr. Max decided that he spontaneously needed a bunch of dental work, with a MINIMUM price coming in at $600, maximum, lord only knows. (sigh). But he’s my best friend.
I have another jazz horn, a really nice 5H that I got from my beloved bride when we met, and it’s a really good axe. I don’t really need two small horns since I reclaimed my Bach 36 in December.
So, if you need a great horn- drop me a line. I’ll put a link up to the eBay auction, but would rather see a great horn treasured, loved, and played, than sit in my closet as my best friend suffered oral discomfort.
Please give her a good home.

ITEM #2 SOLD!
An Edwards TN-STD (Large Bore .547 Conn Crook Nickel Slide, all leadpipes, Sterling T3 Leadpipe, and Vintage 1950s Elkhart Conn Leadpipe)
This one is easier, but the same impetus- MaxieMoo needs teeth, and if they’re infected and not taken care of, he’s a goner. He’s my best friend. Oh, and I also switched over to essentially Stock Conn 88H’s last year, so don’t need the slide to go with my Elkhart Bell anymore, finally decided to “cut ties” with my pack rat ways, and more importantly– I think I’m growing up.
Slide Age: 1 Year Old
Slide Condition: FREAKING sweet. Seriously., it’s better than a new one. I’ve had it adjusted by Dick Akright after I got it, and I am a paranoid FREAK about taking care of my gear. No dents, laquer wear/etc. it’s Beautiful.
Summary: Don’t make Max cry.
Hope you can use the gear and give it a good home!
Best,
Dr. J
